Springsteen, Rage Against The Machine, on torture playlist

I wonder what Bruce thinks about his “Born In The USA” song being used by the US military to torture people all over the world. Of all his songs, that one, which is far from being an ode to patriotism. The irony of the whole thing I’m sure did not register with whoever or whomever are responsible for selecting the song for their sinister use.

David Gray’s “Babylon”?

Damn ! why did they have to choose that one. I love that song. Now, I will never be able to listen to it in the same way again.

Really though, it is revolting to think that great music, great art, can be used as a tool for such heinous and sadistic crimes and that on some level, the music is causing pleasure to members of the american military and fellow “interrogators” while they’re committing such monstrous acts of dehumanization.
